Amelia Earhart was an aspiring aviator who never failed to do what she loved and what made her happy. She was born on July 24, 1897, in Atchison, Kansas. Her parents were Amelia "Amy" Otis and Edwin Earhart, a struggling alcoholic who tried to hold his family together. Her childhood was mostly at her maternal grandparent's house as her mother sent her and her sister, Grace Muriel Earhart, to them when times were bad for the family. Grace is younger than Amelia by 2 years and is her only sibling. I admire Amelia Earhart because she is an independent woman, daring, and an inspirational leader.
First, Amelia is an extremely independent woman. Most older siblings are more independent since they must take care of their younger siblings, but Amelia dealt with this and her father. Her father was constantly struggling to find work to make the family's financial state better so he was never quite there when he should have been, causing her to rely less on others. She is also independent because her grandparents helped her as much as they could but focused more on Grace as she was the "baby" out of the two. Also, when she got older and found a love for flying planes, her mother or father could not help her pay for flight classes or a plane as they were too tight for money. Amelia was constantly on her own, but it was normal to her as it was always this way for her all throughout her life. I admire this because she chose to embrace it and not let it drag her down when her family couldn't help her as much as she needed.
Secondly, she is obviously amazingly daring as she aspires to do things that nobody has ever done before. Not everybody is willing to take do such daring things, especially during that time when technology was not the best at all. She did not care about the glory or the fame that she would get after she did it, she just wanted to do something that nobody else had done. Amelia was just a daring person overall, she enjoyed doing things that not everybody was willing to do like fly solo across the Atlantic. She set goals and pushed herself to finish them, no matter how tough, and she ended up losing her life while trying to do another nearly impossible act.
