When reading stories, we are able to relate to some characters through experiences and emotions, so these characters often brew empathy. In George Orwell's novel Animal Farm, Boxer the Horse invites our empathy. We empathize with Boxer as he is controlled by Napoleon, the cunning, maniacal leader of Animal Farm who takes advantage of his good-natured comrades and manipulates them into following his every command. So in this circumstance, I would much rather be Boxer as he is hard-working and genuinely loved by all. Even though many may want to be Napoleon as he is rich with money and power, but he is not loved or truly respected by the other animals as Boxer is.
Boxer is a strong powerful horse, whose work on the farm is needed for it to thrive. However, through Boxer, Orwell shows that uneducated but loyal workers ended up slaving away blindly for a corrupt society without thinking. Boxer unknowingly contributes not only to his own abuse but also to the manipulation of other members of that farm. This said, the boxer is loyal no matter what, and he worries about the farm, even though he is not smart enough to figure things out on his own. This said he has something even more important, he is generous, kind-hearted, and has an honorable work ethic. He's loyal no matter what, and he truly worries about the wellbeing of the farm and all its inhabitants; but despite all of this, Napoleon, written by Orwell to depict Stalin, gorges himself on the finest food and alcohol. At the same time, Boxer is willing to work to his final days with the bare minimum food needed to survive. While Napoleon, Witten by Orwell to depict Stalin, gorges himself on the finest food and alcohol.
