Rogers Park is a community on the north side of Chicago. It is known for its vibrant life, local businesses, and busy restaurants. Upon 2 hours of close observation of the neighborhood, many more details were able to explain a more in-depth assessment of the community. Rogers Park seems to have all of the services a person would need if they lived there. Rogers Park extends from Clark and Peterson to Howard and Clark from North to South. From the East side, it goes all the way to Sheridan, and from the west side, it goes up to Lincoln. The places seemed to cater mainly to the Mexican community. There are Mexican restaurants (taquerias), grocery shops, beauty salons, currency exchange houses, auto shops, and fast food places that tend to cater to the Spanish-speaking community. Rogers Park has one factory a very powerful electronic company; however, it seemed that the people that worked there did not live in the area. The neighborhood is split between houses, apartments, and a few condominiums. The apartments were rough; many are in the process of being remodeled, and you could see they were deteriorating. The houses were huge, of the Victorian style, with nice backyards in comparison to other houses in the city. The alleys, whether they were behind houses or apartments, had serious issues, there were rats jumping out of the trash cans, garbage was spilling out of the trash containers, and there was graffiti in some of the garage doors and or walls. There were televisions, mattresses, furniture, and clothes piled up against the Garbage cans obstructing the alleys for people and cars. Rogers Park has a few medical centers, one of the main ones located off the Howard red line train station. It does not have any Hospitals in the area; those are either farther West or South. Rogers Park has a few resources that focus on social services or mental health. Centro Romero, a place off Howard, is the only one that seems to cater to those individuals of lower-income homes. There was a clinic on Western and Peterson. However, the place required individuals to either have insurance or pay upfront. The clinic on Western and Estes admitted new patients as well, but they would also require payment upon your visit. Most of the community centers located in Rogers Park were for recreational purposes. These were located in the neighborhood parks. Most of them only offered a few conference rooms and basketball courts; they did not have a full gym. These recreational facilities only catered to those individuals invested on the sports of soccer and basketball. Rogers Park is very well known for its many churches, one of them being St. Ignatius. The community ...
