The novel includes the connection of his family and the neighbors in the Romanian town of Sighet where he was born, was taken away by the Nazis in a cattle car to the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the separation of the family (male and female) during the selection process, mentally and physically stress that the character and the other prisoners experienced as hell is stripping their humanity of their skin, and the death march from Auschwitz-Birkenau to the concentration camp at Buchenwald. Eliezer has a way of thinking that he believe in god so much that after the Holocaust (after all the terrible events that had happened to him), he does not believe in god anymore but when in the book, it shows that someone is looking after him, "from the depths of the mirror, a corpse was contemplating me. The look in his eyes he gazed at me has never left me (page 115, from the novel "Night" by Elie Wiesel)". Elie Wiesel must want to show that, after the horrible problems, he wanted to show that god or his dad is gazing at him. Not literally but by imagining, I think he wants the reader to understand his feelings through this last sentence of the story.
