What I know about the holocaust Last year, I was kind of really interested in this topic because we had to discuss a similar topic in my English B class. So I researched some stuff and found a lot of interesting documentaries about the Eugenics movement, the Third Raich (not sure how to spell it), Hitler, and actual scientific innovations that we now use that were actually created for war (Nazi Super weapons Netflix). I was really curious to see what Adalph Hitler's beliefs were and how someone like him could come to power. I found out that at the beginning of the 1900's I believe, scientists really began discovering so much about the human body. Then began the Eugenics movement which was basically the study of how things evolve. There was a large group of scientists around the world who believed that humans should breed like how they breed animals now a days to get the best genes and get rid of any unwanted genes. So Hitler was one of these believers and with his ability to speak in public and persuade people he came into power. He then wanted to cleanse the earth of the races he believed to be inferior, which happened to be most of the human population.
I'm not exactly sure if Hitler began World War II but he began taking over neighboring countries and I'm also not sure why the Jew community got the worst treatment because of his beliefs, it may have just been because they were the closest community around Germany. So Hitler made death camps for hundreds of people and also had lots of them doing slave labor for his war efforts. I think this is what Maus is going to be about so I think that is what the professor wants us to talk about the most. There were many, many different ways that were tried to kill many people at once. I don't really want to write about them because they are disturbing. I'm not exactly sure how long this all took but i went to see a speech given by a holocaust survivor and she said it took a very long time. And it didn't really start when we think that it was just they killed them and that was it. She said it was a gradual thing that they went through were certain freedoms were taken away, little by little until they had nothing. Then they got tortured for months, starved then killed, if not taken to work camps.
It was very interesting to know that lots of the projects that Hitler funded jet engine technology he funded to make lots of fighter planes we now use for commercial airlines and other planes. Also the same rocket scientist who helped create the first guided missiles also helped NASA put the first man on the moon. In no way am I trying to say what they did was good, it was actually made in bad intensions but that knowledge in good hands has created a great many good things. Well I think that's about what I know about World War II and the Holocaust.
