When he decides to confess his feelings about Lara to his wife he is captured and forced to serve again as a medical doctor in the war. When he is released he returns to Yuryatin. Lara's former lover Komarovsky tries to help Yuri and Lara avoid being killed. Yuri is told his family resides in Paris and he can rejoin them. Lara and her daughter go with Kamarovsky and Yuri tricks her into thinking he will follow her soon after. Yuri returns to Moscow and finds work but on the way to his first day at work on the trolley he dies of a heart attack.The story of Dr. Zhivago revolves around the love relationship Yuri has with Lara. This love relationship is a reflection of the revolution which is regarded as a longing for something better, but the love relationship and the revolution bring only more misery and heartache. Yuri is a disillusioned man who as a tragic hero cannot control is life and his loyalties. He sees suffering peasants and prisoners caused by the revolution. He along with the revolutionaries desires equality and freedom but disapproves of their shallow opinions.Lara, like the revolution, represents an ideal. Yuri longed for her just as the revolutionaries longed for change. His desire for her and the revolutionaries desire for something other than a czarist regime brought only pain and suffering to everyone around them.
