Mozilla Thunderbird is a free, open source, cross-platform e-mail and news client developed by the Mozilla Foundation. The project strategy is modeled after Mozilla Firefox, a project aimed at creating a web browser. On December 7, 2004, version 1.0 was released, and received over 500,000 downloads in its first three days of release (and 1,000,000 in 10 days). As of 2008, Thunderbird has been downloaded more than 60 million times since 1.0 release. [edit]

I was able to pop 10 email accounts without a hitch. Works regular as clockwork and the hot-keys and rule based color coding is simple, intuitive and useful!
No need to fumble around with Outlook anymore...
Bottom Line "...users who have to manage a lot of email will be better off with a true email application. And Thunderbird is among the best of those.."
"..One of the best reasons to use Firefox is its robust collection of extensions and themes.."
"..Suspicious emails are allowed to display simple text only, so they can't access your system programmatically..."

Get all your RSS feeds in your inbox - something that Outlook will struggle with for a couple more years - j/k - I think they've got a RSS reader built into their new Office Vista - revolutionary stuff!! :)
Stability and Reliability - I sync about 9 email accounts (POP, IMAP) and it's instantaneous - unlike outlook where, invariably, stuff keeps rotting in your outbox until you realize a few hours later and you have to restart.
Inbox is also very easy to manage - just setup shortcut keys to process mails into separate folders.
The only issue (and maybe someone has some suggestions for this) is that there is a separate directory structure for each account always requiring you to scroll back and forth to see what's come in into the different accounts. Outlook, IMO, does a better job here - wherein all emails flow into the inbox and you can create rules to channel them into specific folders.
Overall - a no brainer if you're looking to switch from Outlook...
Awesome, easy to install and configure - my 10 yr. old would be able to do this! Easy to add, administer new email accounts and easy to backup your mail.
What no one seems to have mentioned is the search. No more waiting for 15 minutes for Outlook to search through your inbox!
If you do decide to continue to torture yourself with Outlook be sure to install google desktop and use that to search through your mail.
Overall it just goes to show the power of OpenSource!
