The SMIL(e) Gateway (pronounced "Smiley") is a Verizon-compatible MMS server capable of processing incoming requests via HTTP. MMS transmissions are presently used to send pictures, videos, and text to others via email or to upload to storage (such as Verizon's Pix Place). The SMIL(e) gateway listens for and processes incoming MMS messages, and can serve as an alternative to using some carriers' messaging gateways. The gateway features support for all PIX-type media, relaying (resending media to multiple recipients), local storage, and can function with multiple phone numbers. [edit]
