Good open source meme tracker

By michaelneary - Jul. 19, 2007

Hi - I'm looking for an open source meme tracker - something that will let me crawl blogs, process their common threads and then display the results. These meme trackers are currently in use by sites like techmeme and megite. Looking for example apps that can help me also take social inputs and then be able to display threaded discussions. Thanks for any help.

Check out Pligg - an Open Source Digg app. Not really a meme tracker per se, but has some community features that can be used to track what's hot.

Take a look at Yahoo Pipes (http://pipes.yahoo.com) - you can create a work-flow and then run the resulting results through something that analyzes relationships better. I am not aware of any tool that duplicates what guys like techmeme do. Hmmmm.... interesting....

I'm working on creating an open source for Google Summer of Code. It won't be done until August or so (and even then not completely). Check out the progress at http://groups.drupal.org/memetracker
