Mail is an e-mail program included with Apple Inc.'s Mac OS X operating system. Originally developed by NeXT as NeXTMail, a part of their NEXTSTEP operating system, it was adapted, following Apple's acquisition of NeXT, to become OS X's Mail application. Mail uses the SMTP, POP3, and IMAP protocols, and supports .Mac and Exchange via IMAP. Both the iPhone and the iPod Touch feature a mobile version of Apple Mail. [edit]

The folks at 1 Infinite Loop know good product design & interaction and Mac Mail is testament to that. What I don't get is why the folks at 1 Microsoft Way don't order a Macbook on Amazon and spend a couple of days going through it - adding 50% of the Mac Mail functionality and performance to Outlook would improve the current Outlook user experience by 400%! :)
