How do I remove the reboot option from Gnome's startup screen

By mfoley - Apr. 12, 2008

Am using RHEL. The default gnome desktop has a 'reboot' option for anyone with access to the console. How do I remove that? This seems like something people would like to disable, yes?

    Hehe - just did this.

Go to "Applications" -> "System Settings" -> "Login Screen".

There, go to the "Security" Tab.

There, you have an option called "Show Actions Menu". Uncheck that.

That will remove the "Reboot" option. I didn't want people walking up to machines and just rebooting them at our lab.

    Hope this helps!
