The RDBMSAuthenticator, although it still works in the 9.2 release, is deprecated.
The SQL Authenticator is a lot more flexible in terms of the columns that you can utilize for the different fields and the sql for doing the actual authentication.

I think using SQL authenticator is less security than system authenticator
