I think my AWStats install is a little messed up because the numbers are VERY different from what I see on Google Analytics. Any resources, tutorials you've come across that might be useful in validating and tweaking my setup?
I'm looking at awstats data and am a little confused on the difference between hits, visits and views. I get the unique visitor stat but the for example my site had 1k visits, 4k Pages, 20k hits???
This might be a dumb question but what is the difference between bounce rates and exit rates on google analytics and awstats. Its a little confusing and I couldn't find it in the online help.
First off, is there any reason I should not be deploying both solutions - will it slow page load?
The data provided is very similar so is there any reason why I should pick one over the other...
Google Analytics only does client side tracking. But, it doesn't track stuff like google bots, for example, which are not technically 'hits'. AWstats and Webalizer do server-side log-file analysis. Are we basically destined to use both in conjuction? How well does Awstats 'stats' stack up vs. webalizer? Vs. Google Analytics? Can I use only one solution for both client and server side tracking?
