$15 Million in Series C Funding for oDesk

oDesk, a marketplace and management platform that allows technically skilled workers to meet each other and employers, has announced that it has secured $15 million in Series C financing. That's in addition to significant previous funding that the company received.  DAG Ventures led the round.  Existing investors Benchmark Capital, Globespan Capital Partners and Sigma Partners also participated. The capital is to be used for expansion, according to the company.

At oDesk, developers and many other kinds of technical workers can negotiate terms of jobs. Global teams collaborate through oDesk, and service providers and developers can get guaranteed payments, by the hour, for time worked. Those purchasing services can view aptitude scores for the developers participating at oDesk.

To date, oDesk claims that its service providers have delivered over $32 million in services.  It also claims to have approximately 80,000 registered technical workers.

80k developers and growing - how does that stack up against elance or rent-a-coder? Roy, I've seen their site and RAC - a lot of these developers have skills in OSS - a big pain finding people who can implement/customize/develop apps. More people available to implement apps, greater the adoption....

SolveCore.com is a website I just recently visited from a craigslist add. With all do respect, people are forgetting to see the key detail of why .com's are successful in the long run, but over estimated in the short run. With that said, I agree with the comments of Jackie.
