Adobe Delivers Flash Player 10.3: Better Performance and Security Built-In

Adobe has announced that the new Flash Player 10.3 is now available for Android, Linux, MacOS, and Windows. You can get it from Adobe or for your Android device on Android Market. In addition to performance enhancements, there are a number of security enhancements in Flash Player 10.3, and both Linux and MacOS operating systems are often anemic at staying in sync with the latest versions of Flash Player. Despite, the many battles going on in the web video format space, Flash remains king, so staying up to date with the latest versions of the player is essential.

According to Adobe:

"Flash Player 10.3 improves stability, enhances security and user privacy protection, and provides new desktop video and audio capabilities for enterprises and developers. On the device side, with the rollout of Android 3.1 users of Honeycomb tablets like the Motorola XOOM will experience performance improvements introduced in Flash Player 10.2. For more information on how Google’s update to Honeycomb improves the experience of content designed for Flash Player, visit the Flash Platform blog."

Beyond this new version of Flash Player, Adobe is also moving toward a model of encouraging developers to contribute cutting-edge technologies to its Flash efforts. "Intrepid developers can also check out a set of new bleeding-edge technologies in the Flash Player Incubator program on Adobe Labs," says Adobe's announcement.

Adobe has provided extensive Release Notes to go along with Flash Player 10.3. Of special note are enhanced privacy protections that work better within browsers, and media measurement features that allow people delivering Flash content to easily get analytics, such as how many views video content has had, how long viewers are watching particular content, and more.
