This week, the Web 2.0 conference is taking place in San Francisco. In one of the early announcements in conjunction with the conference, DreamFace Interactive introduced DreamFace 2.0, the latest version of the company’s Web 2.0 application development platform based on an open source AJAX framework. You can view a demo of some of DreamFace's existing version 1.0 tools here, and there are also screenshots available. Here are more details on what will be in the new version, due this month.
According to the announcement from Dreamface Interactive:
"DreamFace 2.0 provides a comprehensive open source widget-based toolset to build, use, and distribute enterprise Web 2.0 applications and mashups, including start pages, interactive dashboards, social applications, collaborative enterprise applications, and business intelligence applications. Major new features in version 2.0 include an enhanced widget platform, a widget-based social networking framework, and integrated mobile services."
Dreamface's Widget Library provides pre-built widgets that developers can customize. They can also create interactions between widgets using an Interaction Editor. Applications can run on web sites, desktops, on social networking sites, and mobile phones.
DreamFace 2.0 will be available under a dual-license open source model based on GPL 3.0. DreamFace 2.0 Beta 1, including the enhanced widget platform and the new mobile services features, will be available this month. DreamFace 2.0 Beta 2, including the social networking framework, will be available next month. In order to get the beta, you have to join DreamFace's community and a notification will be sent when the first beta is available. Stay tuned for more news out of the Web 2.0 conference this week.
