When you're developing a platform--whether it's an open source effort or not--it's just as important to avoid mistakes as it is to execute on good decisions. Over at our sister blog, GigaOm, two analysts from AKF Consulting have written up the 10 Biggest Platform Devlopment Mistakes. These range from failing to design for code rollback, to scaling through third parties, to not taking into account the multiplicative effect of failure. These look like some good ways to stay out of trouble.
