The Document Foundation has announced "the first LibreOffice 3.5 bug hunting session to improve the quality and stability of the best free office suite ever." All you need is a computer with one of the big three operating systems and LibreOffice 3.5 Beta 1. Help squash enough bugs and you could be the official LibreOffice Bug Hunting Hero.
The session, to be held on December 28 and 29, will gather volunteers at #libreoffice on irc.freenode.net. Mentors will be available from 08:00 UTC to 22:00 UTC to help. Users are encourage to test new features, perform common tasks, or run the suggested tests. Filing bug reports should be made easier by the experienced personnel on the IRC channel or through the QA mailing list (libreoffice-qa@freedesktop.org).
Whoever finds the most bugs wins. "The individual who has been able to spot the highest number of bugs" wins the title Bug Hunting Hero. That might not look bad somewhere on a resume. And if you miss the honor next week, you'll have another chance after the first release candidate is posted next month.
So, dust off the ole IRC client, download the beta, and test the daylights out of it.
