KDE Spark Tablet Pre-Order Registration Open

A new little tablet PC has been making a bit of a stir around Linuxville the last couple of weeks. The Spark tablet, featuring Mer OS and the KDE Plasma Active desktop, was introduced on January 28 by the face of KDE, Aaron Seigo. It quickly became a mini-sensation as users clamored for availability and purchase information. Today, Seigo revealed the new registration Website and procedure.

The Spark features a 7 inch 800×480 display, 1 Ghz ARM processor, a Mali 400 GPU, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage. It has a 1.3MP front-facing camera, WiFi, and a microSD card slot. Better still is the modest €200 (approximately 265 USD) pricetag. Seigo posted a video of the Spark in action.

For those interesting in pre-ordering the Spark, Seigo explains the procedure is to register with Make Play Live and wait for a email. Although Seigo didn't explain fully, he implied the actual ordering process isn't open yet and this registration is more of a gauge of interest. Emails will go out when ordering begins and pre-registration allows those to move ahead of the line.

See Seigo's blog for more information such as a Spark Q & A and the proposed new Add-ons App.
