LibreOffice 3.5.4 Released, w/ 100% Better Performance
Today The Document Foundation released the latest version of their Open Source office productivity suite. This release comes with lots of bug fixes and something everybody loves: improved performance. In fact, the release announcement claims that one could experience as much as 100% better performance.
The announcement attributes this amazing improvement to "the combined result of the many code optimizations executed during the last months and the bug and regression chasing activity performed regularly by volunteers and developers." Developers spent last year chasing down and eliminating redundant, obsolete, and orphan code. All their efforts have begun to pay off. "LibreOffice 3.5.4 is the fastest version of the best free office suite ever, with up to 100% performance gains when opening large files (depending on operating system, hardware configuration and file contents)." Does anyone else smell a Phoronix.com article?

* changing spelling preferences requires application restart
* comparing empty document with attached one crashes LO
* crash on "connect to existing database" wizard
* fix vertical text frame borders
* performance problems with very long paragraphs
* remove pointless forward moving of a table
* run SelectLanguage custom action during silent install, too
* error message when deleting pages
* Recent Documents empty
