Linux: Greener Than Windows Server

Chalk up an eco-friendly win for Linux. It has been deemed by Network World as greener than Windows Server 2008 when running as a server operating system, based on a series of lab tests. The magazine found that servers using Red Hat Enterprise Linux ran 12 percent more efficiently than those running Windows Server 2008.
