In conjunction with the relaunch of Linux User & Developer magazine this month, the Linux User & Developer web site is up and running. It's slated to be the online face of the magazine and doesn't have a huge amount of content up yet, but it does look like it will serve up a healthy dose of news, interviews, reviews and opinion pieces on Linux and open source topics. Here are a few good items the site features already.
The first relaunched issue of Linux User & Developer is due on July 30th, and will feature an exclusive interview with Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth. You can read a preliminary excerpt of the interview here. Shuttleworth discusses fragmentation of the Linux platform, his early roots in Linux, and more.
In addition to the Shuttleworth interview excerpt, there is an excerpt from an interview with Jon Maddog Hall, the Executive Director of Linux International, a non-profit organization of computer vendors who wish to support and promote Linux operating systems. Hall discusses the convergence of telephony and Linux, the promise of Android, and calls for everyone to "embrace telephonic freedom."
The site also has a good review of Bluefish, a well-known text editor used by programmers and web designers. In addition, this news story offers a look at the developer-focused features under the hood in Firefox 3.5.
