Mirantis and FusionStorm Team on OpenStack Appliances

Mirantis, which is already well-known for its laser focus on the OpenStack cloud computing platform, has delivered a flurry of announcements this week. Earlier, we covered the news that its Fuel toolset has become an official OpenStack component under the project's "big tent" organizational policy. Fuel has been successfully used to deploy OpenStack in environments ranging from personal proof-of-concept micro-clouds to production infrastructures composed of hundreds of nodes running tens of thousands of instances.

Mirantis has also been moving ahead with turnkey OpenStack appliances. And now, it has announced FusionStorm as the latest Certified Rack Partner to offer Mirantis Unlocked Appliances. These track-based appliances ship with Mirantis OpenStack pre-configured to run in production environments and are targeted to be easy to install and operate.

According to the announcement, FusionStorm customers will be able to buy the Mirantis Unlocked Appliance for Cloud Native Applications, "a pre-validated turnkey environment designed for developing and deploying cloud native applications and container-based environments at scale, and pre-integrated, delivered and supported by FusionStorm."

"Enterprises around the world are evaluating OpenStack, but for some, the barrier to entry is too high. They need a turnkey solution that will be up and running in days, and reliable support for Day 2 operations," said Mirantis Sr. Director of Solutions Marketing, Jim Sangster. "Mirantis' select ecosystem of Certified Rack Partners will expand OpenStack's global footprint. We certified FusionStorm as our second rack partner because of their proven track record in delivering and supporting data center solutions to customers around the world."

FusionStorm focuses on data center, networking, communications and collaboration solutions, backed by support, and support may be a big part of its attraction to customers interested in the appliances.
