Mozilla Jetpack Design Challenge Extended

Jetpacks are basically add-ons for Mozilla Firefox that are written in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. They're meant to be easier to write and deploy for Web designers than standard Firefox extensions that can involve needing to know Mozilla's XUL, too. While Mozilla has tons of people writing add-ons for Firefox, the group of people who know standard Web development is far larger than the group that know (or want to learn) XUL.

The first round of submissions have to be in by Monday. Then the organizers will choose up to 60 participants for the second part of the contest, an online six-week program with presentations from experts on user interface design and Firefox development. That group will be winnowed down to 10 lucky winners who get a trip to the in-person camp.

The rules are online, along with more information on creating Jetpacks and the contest. This is one of a series of proposed design challenges for Mozilla Labs.
