Mozilla Wants Your Opinion on Open Web

The open source community spends a lot of time kicking around the idea of an open Web and how best to develop open and non-proprietary specifications for Web technologies. Creating a plan is one thing, but communicating the importance of an open Web to non-technical computer users is another. Mozilla has taken the reins in an attempt to form an understandable explanation and wants your help.

We need your help in making the story of the open web crystal clear. Tell us what an open web means to you and why you're part of this project. We're going to collect your words, photos and art to build a campaign to tell the world what open means later this year.

Whichever medium you choose to share your opinion, Mozilla encourages you to bring attention to the project by Tweeting your involvement and including the hashtag #mozopen. Submissions will also be captured on Friendfeed so be sure to subscribe to the MozOpen feed there to keep track of what others are saying.

If you feel strongly about helping to further the open Web movement, go share your thoughts with Mozilla and help spread the word. Then, come back here and let us know what you said in the comments.

well i love firefox, i love it very much, and i love the mozilla foundation. you people are awesome.

i use firefox (really icecat ) every day, and i'd like to see a lighter weight version. i like extensions, so what if there were more of them? like standard extensions- for almost every feature. that way, it comes with standard features, and you can actually uninstall them- just like you do with extensions. (you could even make the branding an extension, rendering icecat unnecessary.)

we already enjoy great power to customize, but there's no customizing the core.

if you could actually remove core standard features, or swap them out, it would be the most customizable browser ever. you know chrome will do it if you don't (and i don't like them anyway. kick their ascii for me.) cheers
