People are no longer new to the nation of 'open source', so they search for more specific thing. Same with 'Linux'.


People who use Google Trends for stats either misunderstand or don't want to understand statistic.


See for example a graph of 'ubunu' and 'Linux', It's an issue of granularity and brand recognition.
