Developers of the GNOME open source desktop environment have announced the release of version 2.22 after six months of development. There are several significant new applications.

Open source CRM (customer relationship management) product vTiger is out in a new version 5.0.4. The new release addresses about 900 issues and has several new features.

Sun Microsystems, which has been getting increasingly focused on open source, has joined the Open Group as a Platinum member. The company will play an increased role in certification programs.

Web Worker Daily has a hands-on look at this week's new version 1.1 of the open source Flock browser, based on Mozilla's architecture.
