Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.7 to 5.8 Risk Report

red hatMark Cox posted his latest Red Hat Enterprise Linux risk report, this time for versions 5.7 through 5.8. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8 was released today "with new and improved functionality for enhanced performance, flexibility, and security."

Cox reported that 118 vulnerabilities were addressed in 42 advisories for the default install. Of these, "4 advisories were rated critical, 13 were important, and the remaining 25 were moderate and low." For a full install, 71 advisories were issued. Seven of these "were rated critical, 16 were important, and the remaining 48 were moderate and low."
