Red Hat Delivers New Onboarding Program for Enterprise OpenStack

Red Hat is very rapidly increasing its focus on OpenStack. The company is out with a new initiative called On-Ramp to Enterprise OpenStack to drive enterprise adoption of the framework for building and managing private, public, and hybrid clouds. Red Hat is closely collaborating with Intel on the On-Ramp program, "educating customers on the benefits and capabilities of Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform running on Intel Architecture." The news comes on the heels of evidence that OpenStack is starting to gain real traction in enterprises.

“The On-Ramp to Enterprise OpenStack program for private, public, and hybrid cloud deployments is a natural extension of Intel and Red Hat’s long-standing collaboration in enterprise Linux,” said Imad Sousou, vice president and general manager of Intel’s Open Source Technology Center, in a statement. “The combination of Intel Architecture and Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform helps form a secure, trusted, high-performance platform for these cloud deployments and provides end users a quick and easy way to evaluate, learn about, and deploy important use cases like trusted compute pools.”

In June, Red Hat announced its OpenStack-powered product offerings, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform and Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure, an offering designed to support organizations building out OpenStack-powered clouds.

The On-Ramp to Enterprise OpenStack program has two specific components, including:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform on Intel Architecture TestFlight, a hosted, multi-tenant implementation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform on Intel Xeon processor-based servers that organizations can use to build proofs of concept and demonstrations to evaluate Red Hat’s OpenStack offerings; and the

On-Ramp to Enterprise OpenStack Road Tour, a series of workshops in North America and Europe, consisting of instructor-led training and hands-on workshops within the TestFlight environment utilizing Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform on Intel Architecture. Red Hat also released results from an IDG-conducted survey that it sponsored this week. The 2013 Path to an OpenStack-Powered Cloud survey included 200 U.S. enterprise decision makers as respondents, and found that sixty percent of those surveyed said they were in early stages of OpenStack development.
