ROSA Presents ROSA Desktop R1

by Ostatic Staff - Jun. 07, 2013

Yesterday the ROSA Company announced the release of ROSA Desktop Fresh R1, "a new name distribution based on the ROSA Fresh platform." The announcement explained that this new "R" series is for "advanced users and enthusiasts who will appreciate rich functionality and freshness of distribution components without serious loss of quality."

Blogger Finid said about the only difference he can spot is "very little, aside from this R-series having support for Windows Azure and Hyper-V. This looks to me like an updated ROSA Desktop Fresh 2012."

This release features Linux 3.8.12, Xorg X Server 1.13.3, KDE 4.10.3, ROSA Media Player 1.6, Libreoffice 3.6.6, Firefox 21, and Chromium 27. Graphic drivers have been updated to NVIDIA 319.17, AMD 13.4, and Intel 2.21.6. Of course there were a lot of fixes and updates throughout.

See the announcement for a few more details and download information. Finid at LinuxBSDos.com has a quick tour and concludes, "don’t let the 'targeted for advanced users' description fool you. This desktop edition from ROSA Labs is designed for everybody."
