Sourceforge Community Choice Awards Finalists--Who's Missing?

Now that Sourceforge.net has announced the finalists in its Community Choice Awards for best open source applications in various categories, I find a number of my favorite applications missing from the list. Don't get me wrong--this time around, Sourceforge allowed the community to vote, so I don't question how the finalists were arrived at. I just wish a few applications that are near and dear to me got some recognition. Matt Asay already weighed in with his ideas on which applications are missing. Here are a few non-finalists that I wish were finalists.

In the Best Project for Multimedia category, why is the mighty Blender not on the list? We've written about how entire 3D animated movies have been created exclusively in Blender  and a thriving community keeps this application at the top of the heap for animation, character modeling and more.

In the category of Best Tool or Utility for Developers, none of my favorite web development projects are on the list. As opportunities grow for SaaS and other types of open source web applications, web development tools are important. Kompozer is a big favorite with developers who are into CSS (cascading style sheets). Kompozer's rendering engine uses Gecko, the same layout engine in Mozilla's Firefox. It stands out for its very easy-to-use CSS editor, and strong WYSIWYG features.

Finally, I'm not sure where they would fit in Sourceforge's categories, but I think Piwik (open source web analytics software), and Mozilla's Thunderbird (e-mail) belong somewhere on the list.

I agree that I would have liked to see Piwik somewhere on the list! I can't live without it now...
