In late December, the Linux Foundation announced its "I'm Linux" promotional video contest. Though early submissions were welcomed, today is the day the contest officially gets under way, sporting a new name and a panel of judges hailing from all over the open source and media industries.
The contest, due to popular demand, has been renamed "We're Linux" to better reflect the concept of community. In the same vein, the winner will be selected based on a video's online ranking (determined by community input) in conjunction with votes from a panel of judges.
Judges include Alfresco's Matt Asay, Linux Foundation board member and venture capitalist Larry Augustin, Ubuntu community manager Jono Bacon, openSUSE community manager Joe Brockmeier, Melinda Mettler, director of the School of Advertising at the Academy of Art, and O'Reilly Media's own Tim O'Reilly. To get your vote in (or to submit your video), all that's needed is a quick registration at the Linux Foundation's video portal site.
The contest is open for submissions until March 15, with the winning entry set to be revealed at the Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit in April. The winner will receive a trip to Tokyo, Japan, to participate in the Foundation's Japanese Linux Symposium.
