Time to Nominate Open Source Heroes

It's that time again - O'Reilly has opened nominations for the 2008 Open Source Awards. The awards will be given out at OSCON 2008, coming up this July in Portland. They're intended to recognize "individual contributors who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, creativity, and collaboration in the development of Open Source Software." In other words, if you have an open source hero, they're interested in knowing about it.

You can see the list of past recipients (this is the fourth year for these awards) on the Google/O'Reilly Hall of Fame page. You'll find they've honored open source folks from hackers and developers to evangelists and bloggers. But there are still plenty of deserving souls in the open source movement who haven't been recognized, so why not spend a few minutes thinking about the ones who have been most important in your world?
