Whoops, Mageia Releases Fixed ISOs

by Ostatic Staff - Jun. 10, 2013

Yesterday, the Mageia project announced the released of updated Mageia 3 classic installer images. A little bug in the first set could cause unsuspecting users to be running development branch instead of stable. A very small subset of users encountered this bug, but new ISOs are available now.

A strange little bug found its way into the original images that resulted in systems being updated to Cauldron, the developmental branch of Mageia (similar to Rawhide with Fedora). This only cropped up if the user configured online update media at the beginning of their classic DVD install. Instead of Mageia 3 repositories Cauldron repos were set up, then the system would be updated to Cauldron instead of getting the few Mageia 3 updates available.

If you were one of the unlucky ones and wish to reinstall a stable system, the announcement suggests checking the DATE.txt file on mirrors to make sure you're getting the latest one. See the full announcement for more.
