Yet Another Browser?

So, the world has woken up to yet another Web browser. The highlight being that it is launched by none other than 'Google'.

With comparable speeds to modern day web browsers like Firefox, Google's Chrome is slowing gaining popularity.

The emphasis on Chrome is for

1) More screenspace - notice that there are not Toolbars wasting your screenspace. Its like a fullscreen browser. Yet everything is easily accessible.

2) If one tab crashes, it does not take the whole browser down - has anyone tested this ?

3) Incognito mode - No sessions / cookies stored on your computer

4) Store shortcuts to your favourite webapps on the desktop.

5) Fancy gui for adding and removing tabs / windows.

The special feature available with Chrome, is the ability to keep web apps as a desktop shortcut. This employs Google Gears. Mozilla is planning to release a similar feature.

However, without the 'Plugins', Firefox users are not likely to migrate any time soon. Here's an article from Lifehacker on how to reproduce all the nifty things in Chrome on Firefox using plugins.

Opera Breathes Down Firefox's and Chrome's Necks With Unite

Opera Unite

Though the Opera browser isn't open source, it's free and its new server-in-a-browser feature, Unite, is really making significant inroads toward online collaboration. If Chrome and Firefox are to keep their edge over Opera, their development teams had better sit up and take notice.

Opera's Unite technology lets users run chat rooms, host Web sites, and share files that even people not using Opera can access. "The interaction is all done via a central Opera Unite server — Opera Unite uses a proxy between the server and its clients (found at operaunite.com) to avoid the need for any special firewall configuration," writes the development team. Unite launched today with six features but is calling on the Opera community to design and create any new services they'd like to see available.

Read on to have a look at what Opera unite can already do and why Google and Mozilla haven't cornered the market on browsers just yet.

Chrome started to not work after some virus/trojan problem. Any idea why?

I have installed chrome last week.. It was working fine at that time. There was a torjan/virus infection on my winlogon.exe recently and I realized this when I have to start my computer two times, in order to succesffully login to the system.. Anyway AVG antivirus has found and cleaned the virus. I made a full system search with it and also used Spyware Doctor for a possible spyware infection too.. Now as far as I see there is nothing in the system.. However chrome started to not work on any site giving the error belows. iexplorer and firefox seems to be working on some basic sites and for some others giving "Content Encoding Error".(Eventhough I have reinstalled them)
Chrom is giving (net::ERR_FAILED): for all sites... I don't want to reinstall whole system just for this strange situation. any suggestions?

Most visited - Chrome

This appears to be a good idea - but it is not mentioned on the Chrome tutorial, and I can't see how to locate any icon or tab - can someone please advise how you invoke this?
