ClamWin Is FULLY FREE

Why would you have to buy costly AntiVirus when you have something much better than them in Clamwin and that too completely FREE. If you have paid someone to use Clamwin you can ask for your refund! ;)

Just make sure you get Winpooch installed too as Clamwin is is yet to have a realtime file access scanner.

I had detailed on Clamwin and Winpooch earlier:

Good And The Price Is Right!

Here's the power of the community at work! I'll break this review down by the different relevant areas:

1. Installation - easy. up and running in 2 minutes.

2. Interface - Very clean, simplistic and easy to use.

3. Scanning - A little slower than McAfee.

4. Updates - Regular updates - not sure how this compares to McAfee or other large paid services but it seems like there is a lot of activity

Overall, a great product and much recommended.

Gems and Additions from Datamation's Security Software Roundup

Datamation has a good piece out titled 50 Must-Have Open Source Tools for Security. The applications are organized into categories such as encryption, anti-virus and forensics. When it comes to security software, both the open source arena and the freeware arena offer very solid applications. Here are a few open source security apps that I agree with Datamation on, and some top-notch freeware choices to boot.
