What is coal electricity?
The first step to making coal fired electricity is to burn thermal coal that has already been pulverized into a fine powder. The heat being formed is then used to turn water into steam. The steam at very high pressure is then used to spin turbine, connected to and electrical generator. The spinning turbine causes large magnets to turn within copper wire coils (generator). The moving magnets cause electrons to move from one place to another, creating an electrical current and producing energy.
What is wind energy?
Wind energy, or wind power, is a form of renewable energy that uses airflow to generate electricity. Wind turbines are typically about 120 meters high to capture strong winds and there blades span about 45 meters. The wind turns the blades of a wind turbine that is connected to a generator. The generator then converts the winds kinetic energy into electricity.
