I started by taking photographs of my brother like the ones I took of my gran. I made sure to take them against the same green wall in my room so that they had the same backdrop which would make it easier to take parts of each photo and experiment with overlaying them and putting them together. One thing I could have improved would be making sure I took the photos at the same time of day. I took the initial photos of my grandma on the weekend so I could do them in the middle of the day when I had the best lighting in my room. However, I took the photos of my brother in the evening so I had to use artificial white lighting to try and best mimic the look of natural sun light. This means that there are a few subtle shadows in the photo which upon inspection you may notice. I f I was doing this again I would try and eliminate these. To start I used the same technique I did with the original photos. I simply magnified parts of the image online and out them on top of the face to highlight details like freckles and a scar above his eye.
I think my interest in this segment of my project stems from my love of the little imperfections and details on a person or an object that make them who they are and hold a story or memory.
I magnified both my brother’s eyes but one from above the eye and one from below so you are getting different aspects of his face with the focal point, the eye, being the same. I really like the way these images turned out, more so than my first attempt. I used a thicker and glossier card than before and I used a different type of printing ink which made the colours more vivid and details more visible. I really like the way they look because I think they look more professional and put together than before.
However, there are still things I think I could improve upon. Firstly, the zoomed in sections are still not as clear as I would like. I think that because I have had to do them on my phone and print them they are not always the best quality. Next time I will take the photos on my Sony camera which will make them a lot better quality and then email them to myself and edit them properly on the computer, making sure any areas I magnify are totally clear and really do highlight hidden details in my models faces.
Overall I am happy with this image because I think I have improved a lot of things f...
