Individuality:
The quality or character of a person or thing that distinguishes them from others of the same kind, especially when strongly marked. The title track of Michael Jackson's posthumous Xscape album, this was collected from the 2001 sessions for the King of Pop's Invincible album. The song was written by the singer with Rodney Jerkins. It is the only tune on the record to have been modernised by the man who wrote it in the first place. The track starts with a brief skit, where he refers to a man most likely Michael who has escaped from a prison. Jackson then proceeds to touch on his favorite topics of freedom and individuality. "Why is it I can't do whatever I want to when it's my personal life and I don't live for you? “I got to get away, so I can free my mind." Michael is reacting to the barrage of media criticism he was getting at the time. He was stating its his personal life and he can do what he wants. He was a man who saw the increasingly interconnected world and gave it a music to share and, he hoped, perhaps even to improve each others' lives with his tracks Heal the World and Earth Song are often mocked for their mover-sentimental environmentalism, but he was one of the few people who could actually transmit the message he set out to preach.
