MMR Vaccine and Autism
The study would analyze children with autism spectrum disorder that are picked through matching birth year and sex. The diagnosis of ASD would be confirmed through physical in-person evaluations. They would be questioned whether or not they’ve vaccinated their children and if so, they would also be asked if their ASD was caused by vaccinations. The dates of the vaccinations would be analyzed to find correlations. Other major factors that cause an increased risk of ASD are parental age, pregnancy and birth complications such as premature birth, low birth weight, and multiple pregnancies at the same time, and genetic predisposition. So the parents would be asked several questions to find out if the ASD could have been caused through other factors. The data collected would be put into various graphs and data tables to compare and contrast.
The public-health officials predict a worst-case scenario in which the deaths caused by measles could possibly go over 500,000 by 2013 because of fact that vaccination efforts have lessened and now compete for funding with other diseases since measles deaths started falling.
