There are many variations of identities, all having aspects associated with us as a society. Identity can be defined as what differentiates one person from another. An identity can be determined by a person’s personality, name, height, age, ethnicity, culture, class, gender and religion. Trying to define yourself is like trying to bite your own tongue. All throughout life people have strived to become someone with specific identity, to be classified as a “somebody” rather than a “nobody”. A person’s identity is his own, nobody can put it there and nobody can take it out. Everyone in this world has different identity because we all make our own over the course of their life. At certain points of time we search for our identity in order to understand our existence in life. In today’s world, society creates an impact on human life; more of an impact can be seen among family and peers. The task of personal identity is to define a quality that makes us unique, differentiated from the rest. The way I identify myself as an individual can be done in numerous amount of ways. I identify myself through a good deal of aspects in my life including race, class, gender, religion, and sexuality.
