INTRODUCTION:
I. Attention Getter - My friend once told me that there is no better source of satisfaction in life than through helping others. And after hearing about an organization he came across which allowed him to do just that, there was no turning back. Feed My Starving Children is the organization that allowed him to package food as a volunteer.
II. Credibility Statement – I began volunteering at Feed My Starving Children when I was just a freshman in high school, and have since gotten nearly four years of experience working for them; in many ways, my volunteering experience at Feed My Starving Children opened up avenues for me to join other volunteering positions, like in one of my local medical and dental offices.
III. Relating to the Audience – For many of you, Feed My Starving Children is just what you need, providing an easy and effective way to feel like you’ve truly given back as part of your community to this world in some way, shape, or form; you may also use this, again, as a medium through which other volunteer opportunities are found, because the organization as a whole carries such a great brand name.
IV. Thesis Statement – Feed My Starving Children is the ideal organization, through which malnourished children can effectively get the help they need, through an organization that allows for a simple, yet result-producing concept of food packaging and distributing.
Transition: First I will discuss what it takes to volunteer at Feed My Starving Children.
BODY:
I. In today’s society, hunger is one of, if not the most prevalent and ongoing issue.
A. According to hunger statistics, reported by the World Food Programme, “The vast Majority of the world’s hungry people live in developing countries, where 12.9 percent of the population is undernourished. In fact, 66 million primary-school-age children attend classes hungry across the developing world, with 23 million in Africa alone.”
B. Furthermore, over 45% of deaths in children under the age of five die because of poor nutrition (FMSC contributes to reduce this number).
Directional transition: Next, I will talk about what Feed My Starving Children has accomplished as a non-profit organization in the past, which makes it superior to other not-for-profit organizations.
II. Feed My Starving Children is the result-producing non-profit that people need to recognize for its effectiveness, and thereby contribute to.
A. Feed My Starving Children has gotten 99.6% of their meals shipped to the intended location, and has consistently been awarded a charity 4-star rating (for the last ten years)
B. All it takes to volunteer is a willingness to package food items through any position in the table available. You just need to sing up online or in the respective building itself.
Transition: Now that I have spoken to you about what it takes to volunteer and what Feed My Starving Children has done for the world thus far, I will tell you again why this organization is so impactful.
CONCLUSION
I. Restate Thesis: Once again, Feed My Starving Children is the ideal medium, through which malnourished children can effectively get the help they need, through an organization that allows for a simple, yet result-producing concept of food packaging and distributing.
II. After all, the most important thing is to accomplish the goal of feeding those in need, and why have second thoughts, when Feed My Starving Children has accomplished that are more, consistently, simply, and superbly!
