Being a nation that desperately seeks individualistic values, there is further more power in that individuality, founded by Ralph Emerson, for it provides the strength to reflect, evolve, and uplift. Imagine being able to live life independently, living by your own beliefs and being able to explore your own personal power of individuality. There’s truly more power within one individual then there is in unity. Geniuses are people who “believe that what is true for you is true for all” (line 25-26, page 365). This world is based on our unique individuality, not everyone is equal and it relates to the power of individuality because most people have the strength to be/become independent which allows them to most things by and for themselves. Not everyone likes teamwork or commitment they would usually want to do their own thing. Transcendentalism is a philosophical idealistic and very social encouraging movement that has been developed in New England around the 1800’s. This transcendentalist viewpoint has brought rationalism which is divine to all nature and the humanity around us, rationalities members held progressive vies on feminism as well as communal living. Forcible revolution overthrows government in the favor of a new system. Rationality and feminism makes our world because these two traits can protest and be the reason to positive revolution.
Self-Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson tells us thoroughly about individuality by saying “No law can be sacred to me but that of my nature, Good or bad are names very readily transferable to that or this; the only right is what is after my constitution” (line 21-22, page 364) I personally believe that this shows individuality because he is showing that good and bad can show who they truly are from within and how they express themselves to be. Everybody is their own person or in other words a different individual no matter racial ethnicity, gender orientation, etc. Everyone is unique and people don’t want to be too similar to someone else because we all personally have something unique that defines us individually in our own way, and if we are the same and not unique the world wouldn’t have any definition because everyone would already be alike and here wouldn’t be any difference between the people to make us unique from ...
