Lesson Concept: To learn and master the skills of tennis to transfer knowledge into a game.

Warm-up- aerobic activity (calisthenics, running)

Safety Factors:
Avoid running into anyone when you are practicing. If the ball is hit on to another court where play is in progress, wait for the play to stop before retrieving it. When leaving your court, remember not to cross too close behind any other court where play is in progress. Tennis is not a contact sport and therefore is a relatively safe game and the risk of getting injuries is not high.

Class Objectives:
The purpose of this unit is to introduce the game of tennis and to create an interest and a level of success in the game so that the students will want to continue to participate on their own for the rest of their lives. Introducing the game of tennis at this level for these students is a lifetime sport and is a sport that will keep the individual active along their life span. This is a fun and enjoyable unit that students will want to participate in because of it competitive but also easy nature of the game.

Lesson Outline:
Students will enter the gym and go to assigned spot.
(3 min) Attendance is taken
(15 min) Warm-up: Aerobic work for 5 minutes continuously
Dynamic stretching (Overhead Shoulder Stretch, Posterior Shoulder Stretch, Side Stretch, Side Lunge Stretch, Forward Lunge Stretch, Wrist Flexion, Wrist Extension)
-Get students to properly set up the nets.
- Have students find a partner, get a ball and two rackets, rally using forehand shot
- Ask students to try different shots other than the forehand
5-7 min Pairs- Practice shots (One at a time.) Students should think about where they are & their partner are positioned, students should think about where they should hit and how much height etc – if it is easier, have students to throw it to allow their partner a better chance to hit it back over the n...
