The Effect of Smoking Marijuana
Marijuana comes from a dried flower called a “Cannabis Sativa” and it is grown sometimes illegally or legally in certain states. A small but growing number of states and cities have legalized recreational pot as well. Marijuana has some well-proven benefits, including relief for long –term pain, but smoking marijuana can have some bad effect on your health, including making-breathing problems worse. Cannabis can have a psychoactive or mind altering effect on you. When you smoke cannabis, THC also known as delta 9- tetrahydrocannabinol, goes from your lungs to your bloodstream and then into your brain. It stimulates the part of your brain that responds to sources of pleasure, like food or sex. This lets loose a chemical called dopamine, which causes the high. Weed could be a stress reliever, or something to get your mind off of other things like hurt, or the death of a loved one. Kids these days called “being high” makes them forget about the hurt and pain that they are going through which means it is effecting their memory making them forget. Here are some of the effects that we are going to be discussing in this paper. We are going to discuss how weed could effect your memory, you could give your child birth effects if you are pregnant, and it could be used for medicinal reasoning.
Affecting your memory from smoking weed can cause you to forget important information. Some evidence suggests that marijuana hurts your learning, memory, and a attention for 24 hours after use. It is less strong that your mental skills will get worse with long-term marijuana use. So if you have been smoking for a long time, in the long run it could mess up your memory. There is has been limited proof that marijuana can hurt you on how you do in school or on the job. Some tend to smoke marijuana because it helps them to focus in school or on the job, or they tend to make better grades in class when they are high. Some say that you can get cancer from smoking weed, but there has been nothing found to say that smoking marijuana could give you cancer in the head, the lungs, or the neck. However, some suggest that heavy marijuana may lead on to one type of testicular cancer. People or researchers don’t have enough information on whether cannabis affects other cancers, including prostate, cervical, and bladder cancers and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Parents that smoke while being pregnant don’t quiet understand the danger that they are putting their baby through. Smoking during pregnancy affects you and your baby’s health before, during, and after your baby is born. Infants born from women who smoke marijuana can be born underweight, born too early, and will need neonatal intensive care. The nicotine, carbon monoxide, and numerous other poisons you inhale from a cigarette are carried through your bloodstream and go directly to your baby.
