Why the King is better than the “GOAT”
Michael Jordan or Lebron James? This has been the most debated topic in sports history since the time Lebron entered the NBA as an 18-year-old. A lot of people in this class enjoy watching a sport whether it comes to basketball, football, soccer, etc. Sports is just something that makes you feel like you are part of a team or movement. According to the tv show “60 minutes” and Vanity Fair Magazine, about 90% of Americans watch sports. In fact, as of spring 2015, 58 million Americans said they had watched an NBA game and since then, the game has only gotten bigger. However, Lebron James is better than Michael Jordan based on statistics, leading a team, the ability to take on tougher competition, and his versatility. So today, these facts will prove why LeBron is better than Jordan.
Lebron James statistically beats Michael Jordan. It is quite evident that Michael Jordan is a better scorer than Lebron because Lebron isn’t a natural scorer. But after saying this, isn’t it quite odd then that Lebron is on pace to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer? Michael Jordan is ahead in that race right now, but let's say Lebron scores a career low, 20 points per game this year in 64 out of the 82 games, he passes Michael on that list. Not to even mention, the 4-year contract that Lebron just signed. Now, let’s talk about the other major stat categories such as assists, rebounds, steals, blocks, field goal percentage, and 3-point field goal percentage. Career wise, Lebron has already passed Michael in assists and rebounds. Again, he has 4 years left on the contract. He is set to pass Michael in blocks this year and is about 650 steals away from passing Jordan which that task will be difficult. Michael Jordan has always been better at free throws than Lebron and everyone knows that. However, Lebron has a better field goal percentage and 3-point percentage and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Now that we’ve briefly discussed stats, let's move on to how he leads a team better than Michael.
When the discussion between Michael Jordan and Lebron James gets brought up, Jordan fans love to bring up the fact that he has six rings. A lot of good players succeeded because they were a part of great teams. This was the case with Jordan. He had Scottie Pippen, who some NBA analysts say carried Jordan to win rin...
