How women’s roles have changed in Sweden from the past to now
For us today, we all know that the equality of the women’s life has changed in many aspects. Sweden use to be a country where women’s had very low positions in life. Whereas today, Sweden is known to be one of the countries with the largest gender equality, comparing to many international countries. In Sweden big changes have been made in the women’s roles from the past and until now in terms of their work positions, society and family responsibilities.
The work positions for Swedish women’s roles has made significantly changes over the latest decades and to until now. In earlier years, women weren’t allowed to have the choice of staying home and be taken care of or just to work. Being married or unmarried, they still had a need of income. Some women worked for free which made them to be in a constant state of economical dependence. The job positions chosen were mainly low such as servers, health care and childcare. Contrary to the past, women’s confidence today has increased and this has allowed them to move forward in their work positions. Women’s are allowing themselves to become business owners, driven for independence and progressing to higher levels in the corporate world. This increasing change has also led women’s to a more equal economy, but still not as high as the men’s.
The Swedish women’s roles in terms of society have made big differences from several years ago and until today. In the past Swedish women were denied higher education, jobs for the government and rights to there own body.
