4 Essential Plugins For Firefox

Without these, I wouldn't use Firefox.

1. downloadThemAll : The best download manager / download booster for firefox. Supports Pause / Resume.

2. Firebug: Inspect a website, by just clicking on it. Change the website and view it on runtime! Execute Javascript. Find out whats slowing your website. See all the requests sent from your browser.

3.Adblock: Block those notorious ads, which eat up your bandwidth, space and attention, by using wild characters.

4.Flashblock: Stop flash from auto-loading.

Never Had Reliability Problems

I know that I have had teammates that told me the reliability of FireFox 3 was lower than that of FF2. I am a professional software tester by trade, 8 hours a day, and been doing this for a long long time. Have a few key installed extensions, and this browser has been rock solid (2.x and 3.x). Very few issues, and many brought on by the underlying software that I am testing.

Still Have Not Solved The Memory Issue

Firefox  by an anonymous user on June 16th 2008 at 07:43 PM

I just downloaded v3.0 RC2 and its still as much of a memory hog as the previous 2.x version. It is still the best browser out there, inspite of this issue but if they could address the memory issue, it would be a no brainer...

No Doubts

Firefox is hands-down the best web browser available for this particular user.

I have tried many, many browsers over the years, including Netscape Navigator, Opera, and Internet Explorer, but I have to hand it to Mozilla. They have developed the ultimate one.

The application itself is extremely versatile, able to be rendered portable and taken almost anywhere with any number of its limitless plugins.

It is easily movable from one system to another as well; all one need do is move a single folder for instant transfer of every personalized setting.

In sum, I am not certain what other reviews mean by "slow at times" or "sometimes feeling IE is a better choice". Firefox has won me over. I have not needed nor wanted another browser since downloading years ago.

Mozilla Studying Menu Item Use in Firefox

Test Pilot Logo

The Mozilla Labs Test Pilot program is studying the way users interact with the browser's menu bar. The Firefox user experience (UX) team is considering major changes of the menu bar design, at least for versions of Firefox running on "modern versions of Windows."

Mozilla Test Pilot is a Mozilla Labs project to collect "structured user feedback" from Firefox and other Moz Labs technologies. Users work with the program by installing the Test Pilot extension and then users have the option of participating in tests like the Menu Item Usage Study. All tests require user approval and data is anonymized before being sent to Mozilla.

Mozilla Weave Out In Version 1.0, Cozies Up to Firefox Users

After spending years in beta, Mozilla’s Weave synchronization tool is finally out in a new version 1.0. Firefox users who tote multiple devices will especially take to the extension, which is slated to eventually track and sync all your Firefox preferences. For now, Weave synchronizes your bookmarks, saved passwords, browsing history and open browser tabs–keeping all your personal data encrypted, and stored in the cloud (there is an option for storage on your own local server). Eventually extensions will be synced as well. Check out the details at GigaOM.

5 Firefox Add-Ons to Make Browsing Easier

Add-ons for Firefox

Just when you think you've got all the Firefox add-ons you'll ever need, the developer community is busy dreaming up more. Here's five add-ons you'll love that also might solve some problems you didn't even know you had.

TinEye Reverse Image Search - The next time you come across an image on the Internet and wonder where it originates, TinEye can help you track it down. If you've got this add on installed, all you need to do is right-click the image, select "Search Image on TinEye," and wait for the results. It tells you where an image is being used on the Web and can even search photos that have been edited, cropped, resized, and even find ones of higher resolution than the one you're viewing.
