Symantec Ghost 8.2
Murray Haszard wrote Ghost in 1996, building on experience with a parallel and serial file-copying program previously produced by Binary Research. Initially, Ghost supported only FAT filesystems directly, but it could also copy (although not resize) other filesystems by performing a sector copy. Ghost added support for the NTFS filesystem later in 1996, and also provided a program, Ghostwalker (DOS name: ghstwalk.exe), to change the Security ID (SID) that made Windows NT systems distinguishable from each other. Ghostwalker is also capable of modifying the name of the Windows NT-based computer from its own interface. Ghost added support for the ext2 filesystem in 1999 and for ext3 subsequently. [edit]Less

In my frustration of having to reinstall Windows XP and the loss of my manual for Norton Ghost 14.0 I backed up to an external hard drive. I found later that this is incorrect. Now I don't know how to get the contents back into my computer. I read earlier today about cloning but the version I have does have this feature nor will it let me copy from an external drive to my C drive. Does anyone have any ideas that will me out of this dilemma?
Looking for an app that allows for full system backup or disk image that can be saved directly to a FTP location. Have been using Norton Ghost and wanted to see what open sources alternatives are out there.
