Popular But Overrated

The only thing it has going for it is momentum and a large user base. Other than that - its an ugly, non-intuitive application that jams a bunch of not-so-useful functionality into a discussion board.

Now, it is opensource - so you can customize the crap out of it but then you're just better off going with another app.

It’s a new year and like many companies, we here at Panorama Capital are trying to figure out how to better use our time and resources. One key area of interest for us is to increase our collaboration with our networks of advisers. But actually deploying those applications can be a huge, daunting nuisance. The WordPress installation instructions, for example, may brag of taking only five minutes - but that presumes you are already running MySQL and PHP and a web server and are comfortable configuring them.



Security of phpBB

What are the thoughts around security of the current version of phpBB? I want to setup a forum and was considering using phpBB. I think the current version out is 2.0.22.
